This is What the Future of Cannabis Looks Like
Cannabis was once classified as an illicit drug and is since shifting to legal and profitable. It is a booming industry turning in billions of dollars in sales and year-over-year figures keep growing.
As of 2019, 33 states have approved the medical use of marijuana, 11 states and the District of Columbia legalized medicinal and adult recreational uses. The number of states with adult-use might increase with New Jersey, Arizona, Florida, Kentucky, and Ohio, legalizing it either through ballot initiatives or state legislatures.
The federal government still recognizes marijuana as a Schedule I illegal substance. It does not recognize its medical potential for lack of a large-scale clinical trial to prove cannabis’s healing usefulness. But the government’s restrictive regulations make it difficult to comply with the research that they require.
